This typical Victorian end of terrace was in need of repair and maintenance, it no longer met the needs of a growing family and it was energy intensive. The brief required multi-functional rooms to allow home working by two members of the household, improved air quality and increased comfort, plus a large open family space.
Additional space was created with a rear extension and loft conversion while reconfiguring the existing home, allowing quite spaces for working or sharing time together. A whole house thermal upgrade is achieved by wrapping the house externally in insulation on the rear and side, windows upgraded to triple glazing and a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) is added.
The result of this is a highly individualised property to meet the clients requirements and a demonstration of what can be achieved in this common house type.
