We became involved with this new build home in a Bedfordshire village after initial designs had been agreed.
We applied Passivhaus principles to improve the thermal efficiency of the home taking a pragmatic approach. This resulted in a simplification of the rear south facing elevation and optimization of windows. Windows were enlarged to improve thermal performance, increasing solar gain while limiting overheating risk. Details were produced which ensured a reduction of cold bridges, preventing heat loss through conduction.
When the owner moved we worked with him to produce a home buyers guide showcasing the environmental features of the house for future owners.
