Meet The Team – Miguel

Having only recently joined us, we’re taking a moment to get to know Miguel – our Architectural Assistant – who has an eye for detail and interest in creating ‘healthy’ buildings.

What made you want to join EDC?

I wanted to work for a practice that cares for the environment and where I could put into practice the ethos of CAT (Center for Alternative Technologies).

What is the biggest/most important thing you’ve learnt in your time at EDC?

I have learnt the importance of detailing. This is needed to be able to achieve the air tightness required and to deliver the standards expected by clients for their projects.

What part of the design process are you particularly passionate about?

I mainly work in the construction drawing phase of the design process, but I do particularly like the first parts of the design process when you try to convert the clients brief and ideas into drawings.

Does this follow through to your hobbies outside of work?

I like to keep myself up to date, so I am active on social media to follow trends and styles. I am also part of an active WhatsApp group with CATs alumni, where architecture and sustainability issues are discussed and knowledge is openly shared.

What type of projects would you like to be working on in 5 year’s time?

I am particularly interested in heathy buildings, and how buildings and space can affect our mental health. I would like to work on a project where some architectural alterations are made to a building to improve the mental health of its inhabitant’s and do this using architecture and interior design applied interactions methods.
